How to track newborn feeds, diapers, and sleep

Those early weeks blur together. A simple log of feeds, diapers, and sleep can help you answer “when did they last eat?” at 3 a.m. — and give your pediatrician clearer patterns at checkups.

  1. 01

    Log the last feed

Side, duration, or ounces — whatever you use.

  2. 02

    Note diaper changes

Quick wet/dirty taps beat sticky-note piles.

  3. 03

    Capture sleep windows

Naps and nights help you see stretches over time.

  4. 04

    Review before visits

    Bring patterns, not perfect charts.

Why track feeds, diapers, and sleep?

Newborn days are sleep-deprived. Logging helps caregivers hand off care, spot whether wet diapers look typical for your clinician’s guidance, and remember last feed times without relying on memory alone.

Tracking is personal organization — not a diagnosis of growth, dehydration, or sleep disorders. Follow your pediatrician’s advice for feeding and output concerns.

What is useful to log

Feeds (breast side/duration or bottle amount), diaper type (wet/dirty), and sleep stretches are the core trio. Add notes only when they help — for example, a longer cluster-feeding evening.

Keep the system light. If logging becomes stressful, simplify to the few fields your care team actually asks about.

Sharing with partners and clinicians

A shared history helps partners take a shift without waking you for every detail. At appointments, a week of patterns often answers questions faster than guesswork.

Export or screenshot only what you are comfortable sharing. Your baby’s data is yours.

Newborn tracking FAQs

Do I have to track forever?

No. Many families track closely for the first weeks, then loosen up as routines stabilize. Use what reduces stress.

Is a baby tracker a medical device?

WombVibe is a wellness log for personal tracking. It does not diagnose feeding or growth problems.

Can partners see the same logs?

When you use Partner Sync for selected shares, a partner can see updates you choose to publish. Private mood notes stay private.
